Armstrong Atlantic
State University invites applications for two
tenure track positions at the rank of assistant/associate
professor in the Department of Health and Physical
Education. The appointment will begin August
2008, pending budgetary approval.
The successful candidate will teach undergraduate/graduate
and service related classes in health
and physical education, including supervising
field and clinical experiences. Prior
experience in the areas of curriculum
and methods, motor learning, techniques
classes, content physical education and
health classes, concepts of fitness, racket
sports, dance, aquatics, and safety, first
aid and CPR are being sought. Mentoring/advising,
committee memberships, and service to
the University are expected, as well as
involvement in scholarly activities.

| Qualifications: |
Terminal degree preferred, ABD acceptable,
with an academic background in physical
education with an emphasis in pedagogy.
College and P-12 teaching experience preferred.
Knowledge and demonstrated use of technology
required. Seeking candidate with commitment
to a scholarly/research agenda.
Employment is contingent upon successful
completion of a background investigation.

| The Department: |
The Department of Health
and Physical Education offers a major in health
and physical education (P-12) with teacher
certification, and a physical education concentration
in the Masters of Curriculum and Instruction.
The department is also responsible for the
delivery of the service program required in
the core curriculum. There are six full-time
faculty members, with approximately 85 teacher
education candidates. |

Armstrong Atlantic
State University is a four-year coeducational
senior unit in the University System of Georgia
and has an enrollment of more than 6800 students.
It is located approximately twelve miles south
of the historic district of the city of Savannah
on a modern 268 acre campus. The core mission
of the university is a strong liberal arts
education for all students, and the strategic
directions of the university are applied science
and technology, teacher education, health professions,

only a mile or so from crabbing, shrimping,
