The Department of History
at Armstrong Atlantic State University in Savannah,
Georgia, invites applications for a tenure-track
assistant professor of East Asian History,
starting August 14, 2008. Teaching responsibilities
will include survey courses in World Civilization
as well as upper-level undergraduate courses,
and may include graduate courses in areas of
specialization. The teaching load is four classes
per semester. Additional duties include advising
students and serving on committees. |

| Qualifications: |
The successful hire must complete all requirements
for the Ph. D. by August 14, 2008 and
specialize in some facet of East Asian
History. Women and minorities are encouraged
to apply.

The faculty of the
Department of History (14 full-time history
faculty and one historical geographer) has
an accomplished record in teaching, research,
and community service, and embraces the ideals
of a liberal and professional education. For

The faculty of the department is responsible
for administering the department's degree
programs and also providing core curriculum
courses for the university. The department
offers the Bachelor of Arts degree with
a major in history or in history with
teacher certification. The department
also offers a Master of Arts degree in
history, with concentrations in American,
European, and Public History.

Armstrong Atlantic
State University is a four-year coeducational
senior unit in the University System of Georgia
and has an enrollment of more than 6800 students.
It is located approximately twelve miles south
of the historic district of the city of Savannah

population of 471,000. The university campus
is 20 miles from sandy beaches, and only a
mile or so from crabbing, shrimping, and saltwater
fishing. |
