| Description: |
The Desktop Support
Technician I independently claims and resolves
technical service issues from the IT work order
system to include: workstations, connectivity
issues, peripheral equipment and the installation
and use of hardware and operating/applications
software for all supported systems. Assists
the Infrastructure Support Team in the installation
and troubleshooting of network switches and
cable, telephone systems, etc. Assists the
Applications Development and Operations Teams
with the support of specialized software packages
and services for individual departments/units.
Incumbent should be able to apply logic and
reason and possess ability to work in a self-guided
environment. Position requires excellent interpersonal,
communications and project support skills with
a demonstrated ability to work in and promote
an environment of outstanding customer service
and teamwork.

| Qualifications: |
High School diploma (GED)/Vocational School
diploma plus a minimum of one (1) year
experience in PC hardware, software and
peripheral support. Basic understanding
of PC hardware, peripherals, software,
and operating systems desirable. Some
knowledge of Unix-based/Mac operating
systems and workstations and knowledge
of Univ/Internet services such as telnet,
ftp, www, sendmail/Pop, CGI, etc. preferred.
Must be able to bend, stoop, have good
hearing and vision, and be able to lift
and carry heavy objects up to 40 lbs.,
such as computers and monitors. Must pass
criminal background check.
Employment is contingent upon successful
completion of a background investigation.
